A PLACE CALLED SUNYANI

I had the opportunity to travel to Sunyani and since then this beautiful landlocked town made me forget  I am from southern Ghana. This few observations might make you follow my path too;
1. A serene place to stay
Sunyani is touted as the neatest place in Ghana. Walking through the streets of Sunyani, you can see that the place is not densely populated like Accra, Kumasi or Takoradi. Accommodation is not a problem like that of Accra and Kumasi. There are no chocked gutters. Pilfering and robbery cases are unusual . No one gets scared when it rains. LOL! Names of suburbs sounds interesting. Suburbs include Tonsuom Estate, Abonsuom, Baakoniaba, Penkwaase, Mayfair, Kotokrom, Nkwabeng, among others. It has a good layout with beautiful buildings too. In the heart of the city lies it beautiful skyscraper in the name of Cocoa House and other beautiful structures such as the Knight of St. John's building and among others.
 2. Transportation is not a problem
Trotros do not operate here like in many Ghanaians towns and cities but the taxis around charge affordable fares. In Accra, the financially stable persons who do not possess a car make use of trotro because taxi fares are high. The drivers make your ride enjoyable too as they engage you in conversation. Most at times sports and other times too entertainment or politics.
 3. The 'Bono' people are hardworking
If you ever get the chance to go there, do visit their market on Wednesdays. You will see how vibrant they are. Visit the 'Nana Bosoma' market (If my spelling is wrong forgive me). You will see energetic young men and women selling their wares to the public. The enthusiasm with which they work is an I saw. Youths here do not idle around. 8 out of 10 youths know how to farm. Almost every house has a backyard garden.
 4. Food Everywhere
To my 'Edziban' lovers, don't hesitate to visit. LOL!. Plying the the streets of Sunyani you can see that food joints are common. This starts with the TZ joints to the 'waakye' corners through to the fast food joints, 'Abete3' arenas, 'Fufu' chop bars and fried yam stands. They are affordable too and very delicious . Fresh food is not difficult to come by. Meats, chicken and mutton is very affordable except fish which is somehow expensive but its far better than a place i know on the coastal belt where fish is not well patronized because of it price. Its closeness to Techiman makes foodstuffs abundant and very cheap too.
 5. Perfect place for fun and recreation
When it comes to fun in this city, 'Massa', travel and see. In sports, they support their local football teams B/A Stars and Tano Bofoakwa with pride like Liverpool fans. Visit the Coronation park on match days and see things for yourself. On weekends do not forget to visit the Twene Amanfo school park and Ebenezer Presby School park to see how young men display their skills in football. For that of ladies football, visit the park of St. Anselm's Anglican school next to the ADB bank . And see better football skills for yourself. The love for football is deep. For nightlife, i don't know much but from the few observation and hearsays, places of fun such as Tyco, The place, Drop Inn, Glamossay and Eusbett never disappoint but for good 'bro. Charles meat' do not forget to pass through Easy-Easy. This one i can testify.
